Service Design Hands-On Workshop Realizing SOA within an enterprise requires that the design of the architecture be formalized and that there be a structured process for creating concrete service designs. Web services designed for use within SOA require that their respective service contracts undergo such a process so that key aspects of service-orientation and existing standards can be properly applied. This shapes individual services to be fully complementary and in alignment with an organization’s overall strategic direction. It further allows for the coordinated delivery of services as part of a larger enterprise service portfolio.
In this workshop attendees are required to complete a series of exercises during which they acquire a basic understanding of the XML Schema Definition Language (XSD) and the Web Services Description Language (WSDL) – two of the primary technologies used to build service contracts – as well as a conceptual understanding of service policies.
Armed with this knowledge, the workshop proceeds to the service-oriented design process where previously defined service candidates are subjected to a series of steps that transform them into concrete service designs. Attendees will be asked to design several services that are then composed to form a collective unit of service-oriented automation logic. Duration: 2 days (including breaks and Q&A)
